The History of Bone Black

Bone black is one of the oldest pigments, um, that humans used for image making. It's created by taking fragments of bone and then pulverizing them in a crucible. Mamiya was the Persian word for bitumen and bitumen, which was used to prepare mummies for burial. mummy Brown takes things to a different level with its oozy brown hue.
