Ernst Junga was a decorated war hero known to be genuinely extremely brave in combat. In the Weimar Republic after the First World War, he became more famous as an author. And then when the Nazis appeared, of course, someone like Junga was like catnip to Nazis. He is basically what people who describe themselves as Sigma males wish that they were.
