hell is in the first instance eschatological punishment I think we'd need to explore what punishment may or may not be and I wouldn't have a totally fixed view on that personally. In scripture punishment is often perhaps usually seen as having some educative function so I'd like to say that that would have to factor in now whether you want to see this as a sort of consequence. It's very important when reading these texts not to over interpret them as teaching sort of literal doctrine they are rhetorically powerful attempts to persuade people.
