Tom Le Forge and the Crow Tribe

In 1867, Tom Le Forge joined Montana militia. He became friends with a young man named Trie Irons who was the son of a leading man named Yellow Leggings. They gave Tom a Crow name that translated meant fast runner, but when they managed to ride a horse that had been throwing everybody, so they named him Horse Rider. In 1868, Tom's relationship with the Crow tribe got more serious. So, as a result of this developing friendship with a few members of the tribe, his friend adopted him as a son. And even now among the old Crow Indians,Tom Le Forge is a man whom they all know.
