How to Engage With the Bible

When you're expecting the Bible to be one unified way of talking, it gets confusing because we're not sure how to engage with it. For instance, a modern person seeing an eagle might think of the U.S., but an ancient person would have thought of Rome and the empire as they put eagles on their standards. And so that same symbol can have different meanings depending on when and where it's used. The Bible doesn't utilize one way of teaching. Some people are visual learners, other people want to do something in auditory form. This is like a Eastern mindset of teaching instead of saying God is sovereign rather than just having him say what he says.
