The Slave Trade in the Mediterranean World
The book reconstructs how the slave trade worked in the late middle ages. Captives from wars and raids could be sold to merchants on the black. They would then trafficked to egypt, or westward to venice and genoa in italy. The slaves were used for domestic labor, other kinds of labor, sexual exploitation and sometimes military service.
