Nita met wagner when nite was still a student in lipzig in the late 18 sixties. He'd recently accepted an offer to become the youngest full professor in the history of the swiss university system, despite the fact that he hadn't even completed his doctorate yet. The song ducland uberales, germany above all. People often just sort of assume that that has something to do with the notes and german imperialism. But it came out of this period, and it wasn't about german imperialism, but german unity. W don't just be bavarian, don't just being prussian. Be german.
