The Life and Times of Frederick Douglass
Frederick Douglass was born Frederick Augustus Washington Bailey in Maryland in 1818. He took the name Douglass after he escaped from slavery and that slaves that escaped often took different names so that they would not be found. At the age of six, he's dropped off by his grandmother to begin work. Reading led to a huge breakthrough in his life.
