The Cleansing of the Temple
This is part of a sequence for holy week and the whole heart of it really this particular bit of the poems is the idea that whatever Jesus did out there and back then he can and should do in here and right now. I suddenly remember that astonishing detail in the hospitals in the account that when Jesus breathes his last and breathes the breath of life back into God we're told and the veil in the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. That was the veil between the the sanctuary and the sanctus saint torah and the holy of holies. It's wonderful just sitting down to write the poem itself made me suddenly see how all these things are connected, says poet David
