The Difference Between Ideal Rules and Real Rules
Every game of tic-tac-toe that's ever been played since, I don't know, the last 100 or more years has sort of followed this grammar. And so we might make some new rules like, okay, Eric, you can't go first next time. We might start hacking the rules a little bit to make them more interesting. But once they reach about age 8, they're essentially in an adult frame of mind, which is: There's rules to a game, but the rules are also a social contract.
