Psychologists look at the patterns of attachment in a child's relationship with their parents. They ask questions such as: Are you sensitive to each other? And also, are they connected to other people? What kind of defences are there? The work is always called patterns of attachment. We can't associate attachment directly with any particular form of psychopathology. But what we know now is these are patterns.
