The Battle of Lewis in 1264 resulted in a decisive victory for the Montfortians. It was fought in the Sussex town of Lewis on the 14th of May. The Montfortians were heavily outnumbered that day, with just 500 cavalry compared to 1500 Royalists. At the end of the battle, Simon the Montfort emerged victorious and Henry III came into power as a result.
