Carstairs was treated as some sort of dotty patroness rather than an active participant. Carstairs also contributed generously, at this time, to other speed racer friends. At one point, they er financed a ten thousand pound racing car called bluebird for their friend malcolm campbell who broke the land speed record and heas knighted. She places her career before marriage. One article wrote disapprovingly. The next year was spent in furious preparation. They commissioned another two boats, the estelles four and five, each of which had three 900 and fifte horse power engines.
