George Hamilton led his, at that point, very small company, uphill 142 in hand-to-hand combat and beat the Germans off by sheer force of will. He embodied what Marines would have to do to win that fight. War is an ugly thing. It's filled with honor and dishonor. And I'm saying that as someone who's never been to combat. The Marine Corps trained me to be ready for it. That's how we train all of our Marines today.
