I've been having this conversation with one of my best friends and I'm going to say the context because I think because you've been through the therapy maybe you can offer some advice. He was saying to me the other day that he is so easily triggered in the moment by certain things and then 10 minutes later he'll go I don't know why I do that. Nine times out of ten any conflict I've ever had hasn't actually been about me. So to have the resolve to shut the fuck up and listen sometimes allows you to get through the things that are triggering or annoying or make you angry or frustrating, it just becomes so much easier.
