In the 70s, many Indigenous people in Newfoundland and Labrador began to understand just what had happened to them when Newfoundland joined Canada. Moira says membership and belonging are two different things. In 2011, Holaboo Mi'gmaq First Nation was formed, which would function as an umbrella Indian Act community for the whole island.
