The History of Hungary

Judith Palai's father used to be a soldier officer. He was marching in front of the celebrating crowds as military was deeply involved in these national holidays or used to board. To understand Hungary when Judith was growing up, we need to go back to October 1956. The first revolution in the communist world was crushed and 3,000 Hungarians died. 200,000 left the country and became refugees. 33 years later on the 23rd of October 1989 those people finally got what they wanted. Soviet-backed communist rule ended and the Republic of Hungary was created.
