The Importance of Understanding Other Views

I would say that my simplistic theory of left and right, I don't think it's not even an attempt to pass the ideological Turing test. It's not an attempt to go and describe views in a way that they themselves would accept because what I'm really trying to do there is to get a common thread. So when you go and reduce it down to the common thread, both sides are going to feel like they're being treated in a simplistic manner - which as I said, there's truth in advertising.
