CNN's John Defterios says he thinks Bragg framed the case in equal parts financial integrity and electoral integrity. The whole scheme was about subverting democracy and the electoral system by trying to skew the outcome of a presidential election through this concealment of damaging information, writes Defterios. "I keep hearing this argument that these payments to love its point like shouldn't count as a contribution or expenditure under federal law," defterios adds. 'That could be construed as an illegal use of campaign funds'
