Olivier watched in horror as news crews broadcast live images of the fire spreading through Notre-Dame. The clock was swallowed by the flames before plunging 100 feet to the ground. With it vanished any shred of hope Olivier had that his clock might survive. As Paris mourned its cathedral, Olivier tried to pick up the pieces.
