A cleaner had been using the service lift one night after a shift to go back to the departure area where he could stash his trolley. The thing was busted and, since this is way before his cell phones or anything, he realizes he's basically stuck in there until someone else comes along to use the service elevator. He wasn't scheduled to be on shift until a whole 24 hours later, so no one thought to look for him.
