Razi: I think lots of people thought it was extraordinary. Protests spread across many moslem majority countries over claims that the book was blasphemous. What really upset people, perhaps, was that the story appears in a novel. We had passages in the books which were very offensive of islam and islamic identity. And we felt that that was really not acceptable. It's horrifying that people are willing to proceed in this way against what is, after all, one novel in the face of the entire history of islam.
