In our experience, people who get very into MLMs are usually vulnerable in some way. The MLM offers them something that they need very badly and that's why they're drawn to it. Stability, money, community, purpose, a sense of agency is inherently bad. But when they're packaged and sold to people as a sales pitch to join this predatory organization, that's when it becomes problematic.
