Why We Weep

We weep when we experience extreme emotion. We cry when we lose something that matters to us. Sometimes it doesn't even matter how much time we've had with them or how broken they relationship is. When Sarah dies, Abraham went to her tomb and he wept aloud. There's a story in the Acts of the Apostles where St. Paul is leaving the Christians in Ephesus. They threw their arms around him and began to weep loudly because they knew that they would never see him again.
