Eugene Peterson said that the Christians main ally in the days ahead for the formation of holiness would not be the theologian but the artist. That's why Jesus so often taught by telling stories. The hearts that Christ literally came to give up his life for doesn't respond to management plans or to systems or principles. Our hearts don't seek efficiency but rather passion, art, beauty, poetry, mystery, ecstasy, story.
