The New York Times published an article titled San Francisco Millionaires, a carefully prepared list of individuals and firms in San Francisco who reputed wealth exceeds $1 million. The writer referred to the individuals as towers of strength and Levi was listed as a millionaire in his own right. Though the company was not listed, it was worth much, much more. So this is always fascinating to see how people at different times, how their fortunes were built, which is completely different from present day.
