The Origins of Gaming Motivations
For this model, what we did was we did a literature review of academic papers and industry white papers on gaming motivations. And essentially did this big matrix checklist of the motivations that we could extract. We created the pilot inventory items, the survey items based on those proposed motivations. And basically used factor analysis, which is a statistical technique to see how variables cluster together. So there's things that people like to do and things that they might be attracted to in games.
