The seven deadly sins were made up by an Egyptian monk and the fourth century. Pope Gregory assigned them to Mary Magdalene in same homily where he turned her into a penitent prostitute. They sort of became part of Catholicism, part of Christianity, but they're like Bible fanfic. And I think it's such a fucking important and vital thing to know so we can understand how brittle this belief system is.
