The Opposition to a DDT, Silent Spring
i wanted to ask you about how oppositions mounted against a d d t in the context which you're mentioning of concerns of contamination of food. The opposition, of course, most famously, was expressed in the book by rachel carson, published in 19 62, silent spring. But i wonder if you could tell us o the back story that led to mounting opposition, and the role, often of women, in fact, in opposing didity. And i'll ask you more about the ways that the companies who produced these chemicals pushed back.
