The Rise of Youth Clubs in Birmingham
The lenient sentences of the 1870s, 80s and 90s failed to dissuade serial criminals. Change is clearly happening in Birmingham as attempts are made to better engage with peaky blinders. The recent rise of sports and youth clubs across Birmingham is having a positive influence on the city's next generation. More robust policing and positive community engagement do their bit but there is another reason for the improving situation.
