We live in a democratic society. And scientists need to be better at communicating what it is that they do. But I'm the idiot as well because I didn't know who invented the Big Bang, for example. We are moving away from the old 1960s model of governments funding things and people operating in big, scary laboratories. It's now a kid with his computer. The idea that actually, arguably, science has been democratized. They are using it the way they want to use it. Maybe we're moving beyond the very concept of natural science. This isn't really a debate about natural science. It's about the creation of a new form of living which goes beyond discussions of nature
