Is Hume an Empiricist?
Hume was an empiricist, in the sense of thinking that all understanding and knowledge comes from the senses. But he didn't see how things like language and what you might call more broadly conceptual aspects of our life shape the way we understand reality. He thought ordinary life wasn't something that called him to question his philosophical understanding because salvation came through carelessness and inattention.
