Put the Inflation Genie Back in the Bottle
People think it's going to be very easy for the fed to get inflation back down to 2% in fact they think that a fed funds rate of about 5% is all that needs to happen. If you go back and look at the inflation data from the 1960s the total increase in the consumer price index in 1960 was just 1.46 percent. We had six consecutive years where inflation was below 2 percent during none of those years the defend didn't say oh my god we're below 2 percent this is not stability we need to have more inflation.
