Introduction
Josephine mac dermott takes you back to the chinese city of shanghai in the late 19 thirties and forties. I've been talking to a former foreign resident about how one of the most international cities in asia was invaded and occupied by the japaneseit's 19 forty three. Lilian willins was a tean ager at the time, but she still remembers their visits with fear. The japanese were just interested whether you had a radio. You're not allowe to communicate overseas with anybody. They were fearful of spies.
