How Many Lives Have Been Lost Due to Ip?

The idea of patenting aska seems really gofy to me. Trying to patent methods for how to run sessions seems a little goofy, especially when it infringes on the way people have been doing it for hundreds, if not thousands of years. In a weird way, we've just stepped on and smashed the agency of indigenous peoples for hundreds of years already as colonialists. But yet, i don't know, an any thoughts on this kind of inappropriate versus appropriate ip as it relates specifically to groups. I suppose like a philosophical level, is no, intellectual property is a human created tool? And i think we need to be nuanced about it.
