The Khalesani Movement and the Drug Trade

The Khalesani groups have gained importance by actively portraying themselves as influencers of the Sikh community in important electoral constituencies. The other very important factor in places like Canada and the UK particularly is that they constitute a significant block vote in the swing constituencies. It has also created a larger-than-life image for people like Jagmeet Singh in the New Democratic Party. None of these parties are willing to speak out against the Khalesani issue because they may lose just a few hundred votes that make a difference.
