Jogging in the Open Road to Gentrification

In the 19 eighties, jogging was seen as a way of gentrifying african american neighborhoods. Jogging and other consumer items associated with people who once considered themselves countircultural were sought out. These were perceived to be rougher neighborhoods, in some ways, as part of that counter cultural politics. But now jogging and the rest of these things, whole roasted coffee beans, a fresh flowers, esicresants, et cetera. They're still very vibrant forms of fitness that exist in our extremely robust private fitness industry, but which you can't deny are overwhelmingly privatized and available as private goods to those who can afford them.
