CanCon, Telefilm, and the CMF - What's the Problem?

The CanCon system is a part of the Broadcasting Act that regulates traditional broadcasters forcing them to show a minimum amount of Canadian content. The government wants Canadian television to look more Canadian, with a lot more Canadian programming and fewer American soap operas and game shows. As a part of this system, the government and broadcasters must pay into funds that help support the creation of CanCon,. Telefilm, which primarily funds films, and the Canada Media Fund, or CMF, which funds TV shows and things like web series as well as games.
