I don't think that one is intrinsically easier to learn than the other. I think they're too distinct and equally valid forms of English. America generally, yeah, it's a very pragmatic place. They have sort of modified English in some ways to make it simpler. The pronunciation is sort of rounder. For example, you get the T sounds that tend to become like D sounds.
