The Emperor's Dissatisfaction With Gratian

Gratian had never been a soldier's soldier, and his father intentionally kept him out of the camps as a young man. Now that Gratian was emperor, it was hard not to notice that he really wasn't one of them. The troops nearest Gratian would have seen it all for themselves when it came time to fight or desert. After all, if the Alon bodyguard is so awesome, well, let them protect the emperor.
