Adam Rodman: The Number Needed to Treat is about how we communicate risk as physicians. He looks at a newspaper ad from 2006 for Lipitor, which says it reduces the risk of a heart attack by 36%. Dr. Robert Javic, inventor of the artificial heart, did come under fire for his role in those Lipitor ads. Adam: Apparently he used a body double for his rowing scenes in the television ads.
