I think Labour could be much more courageous in arguing on these culture issues if it fights them as economic and social causes, not as a cultural issue. It doesn't take many jinnies in any marginal seat to say, you know what, I vote Libden or I vote Green or I'll stay at home because Labour doesn't ring my bell. But even with those two factors, Scotland and tactical voting, Labour probably needs at least leading the popular vote with six to eight points to have any form of majority. And 10 points to have a substantial majority that's safe for five years.
