The Importance of Status Cues in Academics

Academics are very, very state-of-seeking individuals. They seem to think that they're going to change the world this way. Ultimately, whether you believe you're doing this or not, you are highly impressionable towards your immediate social environment and whether you're getting status cues. I think it's sort of a bit of a human universal. We need to have institutions that can that acknowledge that.
