The Importance of Courage in Unfairy Stories
Courage as a virtue seems honestly to be more in keeping with the older Germanic mentality that we see in Old English. It's very much a big Wolfian thing, right? Going out to do battle with the monsters attacking the circle of light, even with no hope of victory. And courage seems to be the guiding principle of that Germanic heroic ethos described in Beowulf and Unfairy Stories.
