One study by the National Institute of Health found that people with high perfectionistic worries experienced increased feelings of hopelessness and a lack of control in the face of their almost uncontrollable pursuit of perfectionism. And I think this rise in academic perfectionism and anxiety really comes down to the immense amount of cultural and societal pressure that's been placed on us to be the best.
