The Rise and Fall of the Private Equity Industry
The industry has matured a lot. One of the questions that Jeff and Steve debated is why competition has not driven down, they return and the fees over this period. I think that the beginning was novel and there was some financial engineering that was novel. But by now, this has been taught in business school forever. And if they can't deliver good return even after all those fees, to some extent, kudos to them.
