Sevarion Thecla and Thecla - What's Going on in the Book?

The combined character narrator still calls itself Sevarion and not thecla. It can't always distinguish when it's taking on personality traits of one character or the other. We never get a full story of theclas youth. And it's not told in his clear or linear fashion.
