Is There a Difference Between Messages and Notifications on iMessages?

It's still crazy to me that they're you can't have like meaningful separations of your iMessages. Like everybody is just the same level of notification on iMessage, which is nuts. And I'm hoping because this year is really the year where all of the companies are feeling this pressure about how we use our devices and and how humans manage their attention that even if Apple wasn't in January planning to do this at all. Two months ago, they realized if we are the only company that doesn't announce this, it looks bad because Apple should have been the first to this.
