With globalization, languages are disappearing to day at a fast rate. A sumerian gradually declines as a spoken language in the street. The language is preserved by those bureaucrats and scribes who associate it with an ancient past. So we don't see people disappearing. We just see the language disappearing. And then you do see it being removed as time goes on.
