A Man of a Similar Generation

My generation and my parents' generation was very very sharp indeed. They were shaped by not only the Second World War but also by the depression of the late 20s and early 30s. I was the first one in my family to stay at school past 16 and therefore the first to go to university. My father constantly would remark that if anyone had told him when he was in his 20s that he would have a son who went to university he could not have believed it. And we were careless I think.
